From our Sydney based warehouse we service a population of over 26 million throughout Australia and New Zealand, an estimated AU$1.8 billion Australasian book market.
Collectively representing over 40 years experience in the Australian Book Industry, Simon Player and Kate O'Reilly founded Footprint Books in 1999. Their expertise includes publishing, distribution and leading teams in sales and marketing, customer service and book handling.

On The Campaign Trail
Our sales representatives regularly visit all major bookshops in Australia and New Zealand with trade “New Releases” kits including supporting jackets, catalogues and brochures. 'New Release' and 'Backlist' promotions are sent monthly to our retail customers, which expands our reach to booksellers in remote locations.
Our Dedicated Public Relations staff ensure press releases and review copies of books reach all relevant industry Magazines, Journals and Newsletters from our database of active contacts.
Regular marketing campaigns are conducted using our subject classified database of professionals and academics to alert them of new publications in their area of interest. Our website is updated daily and features book availability as well as regular promotions.
Associations + Libraries
We recognise the importance of specialised sales and the individual attention each niche market requires. We work closely with organisations and associations involved with specific subject groups, including the Autism Association of Australia, ensuring these markets are well informed and up to date with relevant publications. Libraries and Library suppliers are targeted in all states with catalogues and new release information.
Events + Conferences
We attend conferences on behalf of our publishers with extensive support material including consignment stock, personalised brochures, catalogues and book exhibits. We also actively support bookshop initiatives in the same manner. Producing effective sales and marketing material is key to our continued success. Our in-house production department produces innovative promotional pieces and includes publisher branding across all media, assuring constant brand awareness throughout our territory.
We give full co-operation and support to local and visiting authors, with promotional material and book displays provided wherever possible for local events. Prior to publication, local authors receive their 'Footprint Welcome Pack', which includes our company contact list, promotional material and an author questionnaire inviting input into the local marketing campaign.
Academic Text Books
Our academic sales team comprises field and telemarketing sales representatives and sales support staff who maintain close contact with campus Academics and build relationships with Text Buyers at campus bookstores. We target key decision makers for text adoptions at all Universities in Australia and New Zealand with information regarding relevant titles and inspection copies. After adoption, follow up with both the campus bookseller and adopting lecturer is managed and monitored to ensure timely stock delivery. Feedback is gathered from lecturer response cards and used to constantly fine tune our marketing campaigns and database contact lists. We conduct major biannual marketing campaigns in print and electronic media, targeting our database of known textbook decision makers in Australia and New Zealand.
