Living mindfully, people in recovery can learn skills that allow them to be the people they want to be. Instead of being prisoners of harmful habits, they can consciously create healthy behaviors to support their recovery and live their lives free from active addiction. Former Buddhist monk John Bruna outlines the seven skills of living mindfully in recovery?values, attention, wisdom, equanimity, compassion, loving-kindness, and action?utilizing lessons, meditations, reflections, and other daily practices.
John Bruna is a counselor, educator, and mindfulness and spiritual teacher. He has been in recovery since 1984.
